This is a transcription of the artwork from Vola’s brother in law working in the olive the grove. First of all, the material is ‘mixed’, which means there are more than one kind of colour(like acrylic).However, the most attractive thing is the techniques used and the form of colour. As for the main tone and colours, whether the acrylic is wet or solid spray is a decisive factor. For example, at right side of this picture, the trace of wash can be easily seen. In this area, the acrylic colour was mixed with a lot of water, so that it can make up the form like a ‘drip’. What’s more, acrylic in this situation can make an effect as watercolour(even can create the special edge as watercolour!)That is an amazing discovery which may be used in the coming painting. To the contrast, during painting the trunk lying on the middle, the acrylic must be very thick and sticky, and it must be painted after the previous wet background is dried. Undoubtly, the speckling is also a critical method. In my opinion, dots represent the gaps between the leaves. Instead of paining layers of leaves, making light dots seems a more efficient and vivid way to show the light. This artist’s work gives me an inspiration of using wash with variable amount of water mixed. In this artwork produced by ….., the simple combined colours are thick and teriary. And if we look more in details, we will find that there are ‘lines’ lying on both right and left sides. In order to make the dark shaded surface on the bottom, a bar of colour is pasted on the picture. Then, the dry brush was used to spread out the colour. The brush must be very dry, because if there is too much water on it, it will be impossible to make a thick texture. Next step is to paint the sky over the sea. As can be seen, a light area was sprayed out on the middle. Thus, I first use the same brush with the previous dark colour to paint a light. This brush is dry, too. Because of these dry brushes, strip lights can be drawn easily.Also, the light effects over the sea is shown in the same way. Those are the two main method of the drawing. The inspirations from the artist come that light can be produced in a strip way. But the unlight tone shows a pressured atmosphere, which may suggested the negative emotional factor of artist himself. This is the transcription of landscape artwork produced by Kurt Jackson. In this work, bold brush mark ,granulation and speckling are used as main techniques. The tone was created by dry brush mark. That is to say, the main part of the mountains lying on the middle was painted by dark purple using dry acrylic. Then, I used light wash to create the shadow and the original colour of water.Next, speckling was used to make the waves over the river(Kurt Jackson used this method a lot to create different textures.) For painting the sky, scumbling colors including purple and blue is the main technique. In this area, I first paint a light blue mixing a lot of water, then, before it was dried, the second color purple was painted mixing with previous blue. By using this scumble technique, gradual change of the sky’s color can be shown in scenic way. From artist Kurt Jackson, the inspirations I gained are using speckling to create the texture of waves, and the edge of sky is darker than the part near light.
