Roger Sperry and Robert Ornstein won a Nobel Prize in 1972. They discovered that the human brain(大脑) has two sides, and each has different work to do.
The left side of the brain controls language and number; it analyses(分析) and reasons(推理). The right side controls our imagination(想象力). It controls our understanding of space and color; it controls our appreciation(欣赏) of music.
Albert Einstein (1879―1955) used both sides of his brain. He enjoyed art, playing the violin and sailing. Great artists and great scientists are similar. They both use two sides of their brain. Indeed, Einstein said his scientific discoveries(科学发明) grew from his imagination rather than from analysis, reason and language. He said that written and spoken words were not important in his thinking. The story goes that Einstein was daydreaming(空想) one summer day while sitting on a hill. He imagined that he was riding on sunbeams(日光) to the far distance of universe. Then he found that he returned to the sun again. So he realized that the universe must curve(成曲线). He got this idea by using his imagination. He then used his left side of his brain to analyse. And finally he used language to explain it.
If you want to think creatively(创造性地) like Albert Einstein, try to use both the two sides of your brain.
